Many feared for the worst when Michael Soroka left the game early, but it seems like he will be okay
When Michael Soroka left the game holding his right arm in the sixth inning, fans feared for the worst. Given Soroka’s injury history, many feared not only for the right handers season, but his career. The Canadian kids worst nightmare looked like it was coming true in Toronto.
However, it looks like Soroka and the Nationals dodged a bullet. According to reports, Soroka left the game with bicep cramps.
Michael Soroka came out of the game with a biceps cramp. Nats were worried it was something worse, but initial sense is that it’s not serious.

This is great news, and hopefully Soroka can make his next start. The Nationals pitching depth has been challenged with the injury to DJ Herz. Guys like Josiah Gray and Cade Cavalli are already out, so the Nats couldn’t afford for Soroka to go down so quickly.
Overall, the start itself was a mixed bag for Soroka. His stuff actually graded out very well on stuff models. However, the execution was lacking. He only walked one batter, but when he fell behind in counts he threw too many pitches over the heart of the plate.
Guys like Vlad Jr. and the red hot Andres Gimenez took advantage of that. If Soroka can be more pinpoint with his command he can find success. However, the most important thing is that he did not come away with a serious injury.
At just 27, Soroka has already been through so many highs and so many lows. A serious arm injury would have been an absolute gut punch for him and to the Nats. I am very happy that he is alright because when he walked off the mound it did not look good.
