It’s Friday night! And happy Corbin Burnes Day to all who observe. Burnes is coming off of a six-inning, 11-strikeout performance against the Mariners and I for one am hoping for another double-digit strikeout performance. And given the recent news that both John Means and Dean Kremer are now on the injured list, I am going to cherish each Burnes start just a little bit more.
Burnes has now lowered his ERA to 2.41 and his FIP sits at 3.19. He is averaging just a hair under 6 IP per start, which isn’t my favorite stat of his. He hasn’t pitched over 6.1 this season, but I feel 8 innings tonight. Call me crazy!
Chris Flexen, tonight’s starter for the White Sox, has a 5.48 ERA. The Orioles were able to come alive offensively last night with eight runs so maybe they are coming out of their funk. It would make me feel better as a fan if they could treat Flexen like a 5.48 ERA pitcher. I don’t ask for much.
