The Orioles have called up their number 6 prospect, next on the list of many up-and-coming players for the Orioles. Connor Norby, 23, received the call up to the Orioles the morning of June 3rd. This comes after Orioles infielder Jorge Mateo entered concussion protocol.
News: The Baltimore Orioles are calling up infielder Connor Norby, sources tell ESPN. Norby, 23, is yet another young, talented infielder in Baltimore’s system and is hitting .286/.374/.510 with nine home runs and 36 RBIs at AAA. He’s in Toronto for Baltimore’s series there.

Norby, a seasoned Triple-A player, is ready for this long-awaited opportunity with the Orioles. Compared to other infielders, his powerful right-hand swings should immediately earn him chances at second base. Finding a spot for Norby in the majors has been a challenge. Still, with Mateo’s injury, Connor Norby has a golden opportunity to showcase his talent and significantly impact the Orioles’ future.
Where Does Connor Norby Fit In
Connor Norby, a primary second baseman, will immediately have a chance to prove his worth. With Mateo out, who had been the main second baseman, Norby will see some starts. Also, he had many opportunities to start when the Orioles called up Jackson Holliday earlier this season before sending him down. Norby should expect something similar, mainly because he is very pro-ready. Norby has played in 198 Triple-A games, which is more than an entire season. He has also been very good in those games, posting a .866 OPS during his time in Triple-A. Although Norby’s call-up is sudden, he should be ready to take on pro-pitching. This is a good move for the Orioles because now they get to see what they have in Norby. If he plays well, he becomes a part of the lineup or an excellent trade bait. If he plays poorly, they can send him down to work on some things, and he still holds much value in a trade.
This is an exciting opportunity for the Orioles and Connor Norby, who are following up on the long list of recent Orioles rookie debuts.
