Samuel Basallo launched his first Triple-A homer, and the Tides exploded for seven runs in the 10th inning.

Triple-A: Norfolk Tides 12, Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp (Marlins) 7

Samuel Basallo nearly recorded his first Triple-A homer in the seventh inning, but the first base umpire ruled the ball just foul. Instead of sulking, Basallo straightened things out. The 20-year-old launched a ball later in the at bat for his first home run with the Tides.

“You know what they say, ball don’t lie!”

The teams finished nine innings even at five, but Norfolk exploded for seven runs in the top of the 10th. Recent addition Forrest Wall smacked a three-run homer to cap an impressive offensive display. Wall finished 2-for-6 with 4 RBIs from the leadoff spot.

Coby Mayo went 1-for-4 with a double and a base on balls. Nick Maton led Norfolk with three hits, and Daniel Johnson finished 2-for-5 with a pair of runs scored.

Double-A: Akron RubberDucks (Guardians) 3, Bowie Baysox 2

Collin Burns gave Bowie an early lead with an RBI single in the bottom of the first, but Bowie starter Patrick Reilly allowed three runs over four innings. Penn State product Kyle Virbitsky and UPJ alum Dylan Heid kept the Baysox in the game with four scoreless frames, but Bowie failed to complete the comeback.

Enrique Bradfield Jr. and Dylan Beavers both finished 2-for-4 with a walk. Bradfield scored on the early single by Burns and crossed the plate again on a single by Beavers in the fifth.

High-A: Aberdeen IronBirds 4, Wilmington Blue Rocks (Nationals) 2

Aberdeen fell behind early before scoring the final four. Leandro Arias drove in the first run with a sacrifice fly in the fifth and plated the tying run with a double in the seventh. Elio Prado drove in the go-ahead run with a single in the eighth, and Jake Cunningham provided some insurance with a sac fly to center.

Arias, Prado and Carter Young combined for six of Aberdeen’s seven hits. Anderson De Los Santos finished 1-for-3 with a walk.

Edgar Portes allowed two runs (one earned) over the first four innings. Daniel Lloyd earned the win with five scoreless innings of bulk relief.

Low-A: Salem Red Sox 6, Delmarva Shorebirds 0

Delmarva out hit Salem 6-to-5, but the Shorebirds failed to score. Salem jumped out to an early three-run lead before adding three more in the top of the ninth.

Delmarva starter Braxton Bragg struck out nine over 5.1 innings. Only one of his three runs allowed were earned, and he did not walk a batter.

Griff O’Ferrall recorded the only multi-hit game for the Shorebirds. Delmarva did not record an extra-base hit.
