With one of the best records in baseball, the Baltimore Orioles will be aggressive trade deadline buyers. The Orioles trade rumors feature a depth of young talent which puts them in a good position to swing a massive trade, especially in the pitching market. However, the Orioles could hold onto its young players and move some of their more established veterans. According to ESPN’s Jeff Passan, the Orioles are open to the second option. Baltimore is willing to discuss trades for center fielder Cedric Mullins and first baseman Ryan Mountcastle.
Orioles Trade Rumors: Willing to Trade Mullins, Mountcastle
Mullins has team control through 2025 whereas Mountcastle is controllable through 2026. Mullins and Mountcastle could bring back the pitching help the Orioles need, but it might not be on the level of Garret Crochet, Tarik Skubal or Mason Miller. Baltimore has ready-to-go replacements for both players. Colton Cowser can move to center field with Mountcaslte moving from designated hitter to first base. They could give starting right fielder Anthony Santander more time at DH to make room for outfielder Heston Kjerstad.
If they don’t part with either player, Baltimore could turn their attention to Kyle Stowers.
Why a Kyle Stowes Trade Makes Sense
The often-overlooked outfielder is in a position to be useful to the Orioles or another club. In parts of three MLB seasons, Sotwers is hitting .229/.274/.369. He’s fanned at a 32.1 percent clip and walked in 4.8 percent of those 168 plate appearances. Stowers is a productive hitter when he receives steady playing time at the Triple-A level. The left-handed hitter carries a career .252/.350/.518 batting line with 56 home runs, 55 doubles, five triples and seven steals. Stowes is the type of trade candidate who could appeal to both contending and non-contending teams alike. He’s had success in Triple-A and has at least half a decade of control remaining. He would appeal to rebuilding clubs as a possible return for a trade chip or perhaps to a contending club for upside in the outfield corners.
Maybe they do something big. But Baltimore is more patient than a blockbuster. If they want to complement their talented roster with impact players, the Orioles have the young, controllable, position-playing depth to do so.
