Wolves’ Jaden McDaniels to @Sportskeeda on Anthony Edwards’ growth this season: “He’s like Michael Jordan.” McDaniels: “They’re relentless. They got the athleticism, fadeaways, mid range and all of that.” bit.ly/3vOquNZ – 10:51 AM

Mike Conley tried to distract Anthony Edwards by staring at him when Ant was asked about his playmaking:
Ant: “He comes to me and tells me, ‘Man, it’d be a lot easier if you made the easy read.’ Throughout the whole game it’s going to lighten up. Him, Slo-Mo and Finchy.” – 1:11 AM

As he was walking down the hallway, Anthony Edwards was referencing the Lakers talking a bit the last meeting. “We didn’t have Gobert last time. We had him this time,” he said for all to hear. – 12:20 AM

Anthony Edwards said enough messing around on the offensive end of the floor and saved the Wolves at the end of that quarter. Lakers got as close as 4, Wolves lead by 10 headed into the fourth. – 11:44 PM

While Anthony Edwards is a really good 1 on 1 defender, the problem with assigning him one of the opponent’s primary scorers to guard is that he often doesn’t match up with them.

Looked into some stats for Davis vs. Gobert in the DPOY discussion, via @JoeyARamirez.
Gobert leads the NBA in def. win shares, but AD is tied for 2nd with Gobert’s teammate Anthony Edwards. Gobert has more help on that end (McDaniels, Anderson, NAW, Reid, etc.). pic.twitter.com/FA9guZgRTS – 10:14 PM

More on this storyline
Dane Moore: Chris Finch on Anthony Edwards’ 51-point night: “It’s really hard to have a night like that. I mean, physically it is very hard to score 50 points. It takes a lot of energy and effort, and to do it with this type of efficiency is pretty impressive. But these things come. At times, when Ant has hunted things, I’ve just said, ‘You know, you’re going to be in the league for a long time, you’re going to have many nights where you have opportunities to get these big nights. They’re going to come to you if you keep playing the basketball game the way it should be played’. And that’s what he did tonight, so I’m proud of him.” -via Twitter @DaneMooreNBA / April 10, 2024
Dane Moore: Asked Rudy Gobert about Anthony Edwards’ 51-point night and the way Edwards has stepped up in KAT’s absence this past month: 51 from Ant? “It’s a credit to his work. The last few days, he’s been very consistent with his work ethic, his recovery, being here with us before the game starts — all these little things that I think allow him to just get a better start. He got going in the first quarter, got to the line a lot, brought us back in this game and did a great job not settling, finding good balance between attacking and also kicking out, making the right play for his teammates. When he does that, it’s pretty special.” You’ve seemed proud of him this past month KAT has been out. How would you sum up this month? “It’s just growth in his maturity, his approach. Not just the game, because I know he loves to win. I know once he’s on the court he’s gonna do whatever it takes. But his approach on his recovery, on his work, on his consistency, also in his willingness to make the right play, which I think he’s doing better and better every single month, every single day. He understands now our team is gonna go as high as he takes us. It’s a heavy burden, but I think he wouldn’t want it any different. And he’s willing to take the challenge. I keep telling him, ‘I don’t give a fuck if you’re 22 years old, I’m not gonna talk to you like you’re 22; I’m gonna talk to you because I know you can handle it, and I know you want to be great.” -via Twitter @DaneMooreNBA / April 10, 2024
