What to watch for
After a close overtime loss to the Connecticut Sun on Thursday, the Mystics will look to rebound against the defending champion Aces. After an inconsistent start to their season, they have now won three straight, including a 95-83 contest against the Chicago Sky last Thursday. In that game, A’ja Wilson scored 31 points to lead Vegas to a win.
The Mystics have righted the ship somewhat in their last several games, winning four of their last six, many of their close losses earlier in the season have turned into wins. However, they are now missing at least two of their starters, Sykes and Samuelson through the Olympic break, and other key contributors like Shakira Austin and Aaliyah Edwards are also nursing various ailments.
Given Washington’s injuries, the signed Jakia Brown-Turner earlier today to a hardship contract. Not sure how much time she will get though. Either way, the Mystics are underdogs tomorrow afternoon. We’ll see if Washington can pull off the upset.
