The defending champions blew past the Wizards despite a Kristaps Porzingis injury
The Wizards lost their third consecutive game overall and their third straight matchup with the Boston Celtics, 112-98, on Sunday evening. Washington got off to a hot start and grabbed an early 8-point lead. But the defending champions pulled away by the end of the first quarter and didn’t look back. They led by as many 22 points as Jayson Tatum had another big game against DC with 28 points.
Bilal Coulibaly scored 19 points and registered a career-high 20 field goal attempts. He has now shot 9 or more shots in each of the last four games. Justin Champagnie furthered his case to stay in the rotation long-term. He scored 13 points and grabbed 14 rebounds, which is a new career high. Alex Sarr had another up-and-down night. On the good side, he scored 14 points and notched a +10 for the game. The bad stuff was foul trouble limiting his minutes and his lack of aggression at the rim.
The Wizards are now 3-21 on the season. They face off with the 7-18 Charlotte Hornets at home on Thursday. We’ll see how the Wizards use the three days in between games!
