Wizards lose to Bulls and drop to 0-3 in NBA Cup Tournament.
The Washington Wizards lost to the Chicago Bulls on Tuesday, 127-108.
You would not know this by the final score, but the Wizards were up by as many as 10 points early in this one.
Defense was the theme for this game, or at least a lack of defense. The Wizards just could not get stops. Whether it was 58 paint points, giving up 40 points in the 2nd quarter or allowing the Bulls to shoot 50 percent from the field, the Wizards had no answers.
The Wizards weren’t much better defending the perimeter either. Coby White shot 5 for 9 and Zach Lavine shot 4 for 8 from behind the arch.
The Wizards offensively also struggled. With Jordan Poole being out they had to depend on Kyle Kuzma being the primary option on offense, who made 23 points on 18 shots. As a team, the Wizards also shot 27 percent from three.
As long as their defense continues to be porous, their offense just doesn’t have enough firepower to overcome it especially without Poole.
Washington now drops to 0-3 in the NBA Cup Tournament.
The Wizards host the Los Angeles Clippers tomorrow evening at Capital One Arena.
