Another day, another loss for the Wiz.
The Washington Wizards’ losing streak continued Wednesday as they lost 137-101 to a red-hot Dallas Mavericks squad at Capital One Arena.
The Wizards held a very early 6-3 lead to open the game. But once the Mavs got ahead on a Klay Thompson layup, the visitors never looked back. Washington lost every quarter by at least seven points. The 36-point margin of defeat is the largest of the season thus far, surpassing the 31-point mark set in the previous game against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Wizards rookies Bub Carrington and Alex Sarr had decent showings in this one. Sarr finished with 11 points and eight rebounds on 5/10 shooting, while Carrington tallied 15 points on a 6/13 clip off the bench. Among players who played beyond just garbage time minutes, Sarr had by far the best plus-minus mark at -9.
Bilal Coulibaly had the worst shooting game of his career, going 0/10 from the field and 0/5 from beyond the arc. On the bright side, Coulibaly did have a couple of strong drives into the paint that led to free throws. But with his outside shot not falling, challenging the platoon of Daniel Gafford and Dereck Lively was not fun for Bilal.
Coulibaly and the Wizards will have a chance to bounce back on Saturday when they host the Denver Nuggets.
