The first preseason game is on Saturday, May 4 against the Atlanta Dream.
Today is a big day for the WNBA as teams begin training camps for the 2024 season. The Washington Mystics are no different as they begin practice today at 11:30 a.m. ET at the MedStar Health Performance Center in Congress Heights.
There are 16 players on the training camp roster. You can read the list below.
Of the 16 players, five have a guaranteed contract, so they will be on the opening day roster. They are Ariel Atkins, Brittney Sykes, Myisha Hines-Allen, Stefanie Dolson and Karlie Samuelson.
WNBA rosters have 11 or 12 players each, so the Mystics have six or seven spots. We can expect that third year center Shakira Austin and 2024 first round pick Aaliyah Edwards will make the team. After, veteran guard Shatori Walker-Kimbrough should also make the team. So now, eight roster spots are taken, leaving Washington with three or four spots. It will be interesting to see who makes it from here, but I’d imagine that Julie Vanloo will take one of them.
