An issue over some reporting that the Washington Wizards didn’t like has resulted in the team revoking the press credentials of a longtime reporter.
According to Wizards insider Neil Dalal, his press credential with the team has been suspended indefinitely after he tweeted an “observation” about a controversial billboard involving Wizards star Tyus Jones. Dalal apologized and said that he was grateful for the opportunity to work with so many great people in the NBA during his 10 seasons covering the team.
“Last month, I tweeted an observation that I quickly regretted,” Dalal wrote on X. “I have always strived to be player-friendly, and never meant to offend anyone, but I dropped the ball.”
The issue in question was Dalal pointing out that Jones had not been included in a promotional billboard put up by the Wizards.
Fans felt that Dalal got a raw deal and are hopeful that he’ll be able to land on his feet or at least continue covering the Wizards:

“Wow loved your work Neil thank you for all that you did while covering the team,” one user replied.
“Someone will pick you up. Sorry this happened. Much love,” wrote another.
“Have always enjoyed your coverage over the last decade. Wishing you nothing but the best, Neil,” a third user wrote.
It’s quite a bizarre reason to revoke someone’s credentials.
