Kim English has had an effective Wednesday recruiting the transfer portal.
The Friars have landed two prospects: former Florida State guard Daquan Davis and former Drexel forward Cole Hargrove. Both are the first portal grabs for Providence this offseason.
Starting with Davis, the 6-foot-1, 176-pound guard averaged 8.8 points, 2.5 assists and 1.1 steals during his freshman campaign as a Seminole. Davis came off the bench at the beginning of the season but ended up with a bigger role down the stretch and made 20 starts.
The guard was a four-star recruit in the 2024 class and was at one point in time committed to Providence. He ranks as the No. 81 available transfer per Evan Miya.
As for Hargrove, he was the sixth leading rebounder in the CAA last season with averages of 9.9 points and 7.5 rebounds. The forward was in double-figure scoring 16 times and shot 58.6% from the field.
Joining those two as newcomers on next season’s roster will class of 2025 four-star forwards Jamier Jones and Jaylen Harrell. Providence is trying to rebound from a 12-20 season in 2024-25.
