St. Joe’s (5-2) has had quite the start to the 2023-24 season. The Hawks are coming off a big 78-65 win against No. 18 Villanova. The upset victory came 9 days after taking No. 16 Kentucky to overtime where they ultimately fell short 96-88.
Their early success on the court is spilling into success off the court with their recruiting. After earning commitments from 2024 guards Mekai Johnson and Khaafiq Myers, Kevin Kearney of South Shore High School (NY) becomes head coach Billy lange’s third recruit to commit to him.
The 6-7 wing chose the Hawks over Manhattan, Seton Hall, and Norfolk St.
“I’m going to St. Joe’s over the other options because of how much I really see myself there,” Kearney told ZAGSBLOG.
He also hinted that the Hawks’ recent success played a role in his decision.
“St. Joe’s is on the radar [now],” he said. “It will be amazing to be a part of what they are building.”
Kearney describes himself as a passionate and smart player.
“I will bring alpha energy with defense and wit on both ends [of the floor],” Kearney said.
