Suljanovic — the 6-foot-5 wing — will turn 19 this April and already has an impressive resume overseas. He’s on the roster for Unahotels Reggio Emilia in the Italian Serie A league. There, he’s teammates with eight-year NBA veteran Kenneth Faried and former Michigan State standout Cassius Winston.
Suljanovic is a member of the Austrian national team. In recent action during the European World Cup pre-qualifiers in late February, Suljanovic posted 11 points, three rebounds, three assists and two steals in a loss to Albania. The wing has also had stints in Croatia, Italy and Serbia.
Some of his highlights can be found here.
St. John’s head coach Rick Pitino has previously stated he would turn down a five-star high school prospect and instead add transfers to replace his graduating players. It looks like the Red Storm will be dipping into the international recruiting space as well.
