INDIANAPOLIS — Antione West, a three-star guard in the class of 2025, is targeting four schools for early June visits, he said at the third Nike EYBL session in Indianapolis last Saturday.
The 6-foot-3 guard out of Whitmer (OH.) and All Ohio Red AAU exploded for 25 points in a 67-61 win over New Heights Lightning last weekend, showing his dominant scoring ability.
“I definitely [bring] scoring; I’m somebody who can score at all three levels,” he told ZAGSBLOG postgame. “I’m pretty well-rounded: I can defend, I can rebound, I can pass and I can set other people up.”
“They [coaches] know I can score,” he contiued. “So I want to keep showing that and then show leadership, show I can be a lead guard, do what I need for my teammates, be able to communicate and lead them.”
West wants to set up June visits to Ohio State, Dayton, Nebraska and Xavier, while Penn State has also been in contact lately.
He broke down three of those programs:
Ohio State: “I was already talking to Diebler. When he got the head coaching job we still talk all the time. Coach Justin, the new coach they brought in, he came to see me and we talk a lot too.”
Dayton: “They show a lot of love. They were one of the first schools to reach out. They talk about family a lot. They’re really goood, they show that they want you there and I feel like it’s a cool staff.”
Nebraska: “We were on a Zoom meeting a few weeks ago. They showed me a lot of stuff about how they play, how they think I’d fit into their system; we just talk a lot.”
Outside of basketball, West has a laid back personality, though possesses a music taste that might surprise some.
“I like rock music, hard rock music,” he said. “I like Deftones and that kind of stuff.”
