Texas Tech is looking more and more like a preseason top-five team with each offseason move. The latest addition? Former UNC Greensboro transfer Donovan Atwell, who announced his commitment on Sunday.
Atwell — the 6-foot-5, 190-pound guard — averaged 13.3 points and 3.4 rebounds in 2024-25 while shooting 39.8% from 3-point range on 7.5 attempts per game. The guard has played his entire three-year career at UNCG and has shot 211-of-537 (39.3%) from beyond the arc. He’s known as a sharpshooter.
Grant McCasland is having a great offseason. The Red Raiders have retained two key pieces from last season in JT Toppin and Christian Anderson, and they’ve been active in the transfer portal. Atwell joins a portal class including Washington State transfer forward LeJuan Watts and Santa Clara guard Tyeree Bryan.
