UNLV has landed Alabama transfer Naas Cunningham, his father told ZAGSBLOG.
The news was first reported by 247Sports.com.
The 6-foot-7 West Orange, NJ native red-shirted this past season at Alabama, and then hit the portal. He’s hoping for a fresh start under new coach Josh Pastner.
“Naasir appreciates everyone who supports him and he is looking forward to getting on the court as a UNLV Runnin Rebel,” Erik Cunningham said.
He began his high school career at Gill St. Bernard’s (NJ) before transferring to Overtime Elite, where he averaged 13.4 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game for the Rolling Loud.
He was once ranked the No. 1 player in the 2024 class.
He played for the NY Renaissance program on the Nike EYBL Circuit going into his junior year, and averaged 11.6 points per game.
UNLV’s other portal additions are Iowa forward Ladji Dembele, Illinois guard Dra Gibbs-Lawhorn, Arizona center Emmanuel Stephen, Louisiana Tech guard Al Green and Texas-Rio Grande Valley guard Howard Fleming.
