Smith is the Terps’ highest-ranked 2025 linebacker recruit.
Three-star 2025 linebacker Carlton Smith officially signed with Maryland football Wednesday.
The 6-foot-0, 205-pound Virginia native is one of three linebackers in Maryland’s 2025 recruiting class. He’s the No. 56 linebacker and No. 15 player from Virginia in his class, according to the 247Sports Composite. Smith also ran track and field in high school, according to 247Sports, recording an 11.84 100-meter dash as a junior.
Smith committed to the Terps on March 11, the second-earliest in his class to do so. He picked Maryland over Notre Dame, Miami, Penn State and Alabama.
