Even the best broadcasters make gaffes every now and then. But Gus Johnson’s gaffe was one that could result in a nasty letter from the FCC.
During the ongoing broadcast of the Iowa-Maryland women’s basketball game, Johnson got caught accidentally using a word that he’s probably not allowed to say on the air after a Maryland player got a shot blocked.
“Nice look inside. Great position. No call on the play as Brianna Alexander had her (expletive) blocked. Her shot blocked, excuse me,” Johnson said.
Johnson had the presence of mind to correct himself after the mistake, saying that she got her “shot blocked” rather than the other thing.
But more than a few users on social media had a good laugh at his expense regardless:

“You said it right the first time Gus Johnson. No need to correct yourself,” one user wrote, adding a laughing emoji on X.
“Anybody else hear Gus Johnson cuss?!? Lmao,” wrote another.
“Gus Johnson please call more hoops games,” a third user begged.
We’ll keep any eye out for any future gaffes by the Fox Sports broadcaster.
The game is being played on Fox.
