The Terps earned their third commit of the cycle.
Maryland men’s basketball earned its third commitment of the offseason from Indiana transfer guard Myles Rice, he announced on Instagram Sunday.
Rice, a 6-foot-2 redshirt sophomore, averaged 10.1 points, 2.8 assists and 2.8 rebounds per game in his lone season with the Hoosiers, appearing in 32 games and starting in 25. He shot 41.2% from the field and 32.5% from three.
Rice transferred to Indiana after a three-year career at Washington State. He redshirted the 2021-22 season and medically redshirt the following season as he received treatment for Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. His last chemotherapy treatment was March 9, 2023.
During his redshirt freshman season at Washington State in 2023-24, Rice was named to the All-Pac-12 first team and Pac-12 Freshman of the Year after posting 14.8 points, 3.8 assists and 3.1 rebounds per game.
Rice joins Pharrell Payne and Solomon Washington as the Terps’ three transfer commits this offseason. With Ja’Kobi Gillespie headed to Tennessee and Rodney Rice still in the transfer portal, Myles Rice will likely earn a starting spot next season.
