Hemby, a redshirt junior, had an inconsistent 2024 season, rushing for 607 yards and six touchdowns on 134 carries. He also added 40 receptions for 273 yards and a touchdown.
After a disappointing 2023 campaign — in which he posted 680 rushing yards and four touchdowns — fans hoped Hemby would return to his 2022 form, when he tallied 989 yards and 10 scores on the ground. Instead, his production declined further.
While Hemby remained Maryland’s primary ball carrier in 2024, he shared touches with freshman Nolan Ray, who is now poised to take over the lead role.
A three-star recruit in the Class of 2021, Hemby redshirted his freshman year after appearing in just four games.
