This is a Maryland Minute, a short story followed by a roundup of Terps-related news.
Maryland women’s cross country sophomore Rose Coats capped off an impressive season by finishing 61st at the NCAA national championship race Saturday.
Coats’ finish of 20 minutes, 18.5 seconds was the best time for a Terp in the national championship since 1998. Her individual finish in the 6,000 meter race was the third-best in program history.
Coats, the first Terp to qualify for the NCAA championship since 2018, has twice set the Maryland program record for a 6k race.
