This is a Maryland Minute, a short story followed by a roundup of Terps-related news.
Maryland football head coach Michael Locksley announced the addition of eight players from the transfer portal Sunday.
The players include defensive back Jamare Glasker (Wake Forest), wide receiver Jalil Farooq (Oklahoma), tight end Dorian Fleming (Georgia State), offensive lineman Jayvin James (Akron), defensive back Dontay Joyner (Arkansas State), quarterback Justyn Martin (UCLA), defensive lineman Eyan Thomas (Saint Francis) and wide receiver Kaleb Webb (Tennessee).
Glasker started in nine games for the Demon Deacons this season, finishing the year with four passes defended and an interception. He should contend for a starting role.
Fleming, a redshirt sophomore, hauled in 49 catches for 558 yards and six touchdowns in 2024 and will likely be the eminent tight end with Preston Howard and Dylan Wade both having entered the transfer portal.
James appeared in all 12 games for the Zips this year and allowed only 10 pressures on the season. He will look to boost up a Terps offensive line that struggled in 2024.
Joyner, like Glasker, could be a contributor right away in a depleted Maryland secondary. He was the third-highest graded cornerback in the Sun Belt and had a team-high seven pass breakups, per Pro Football Focus.
