This is a Maryland Minute, a short story followed by a roundup of Terps-related news.
No. 11 Maryland men’s basketball center Derik Queen was named to the Big Ten All-Tournament team, it was announced by the conference Sunday night.
The freshman sensation is the first player in program history to earn Big Ten All-Tournament honors, and the first Terp since Dez Wells in 2013 to earn conference all-tournament honors. Queen shot 56.7% from the floor in Maryland’s two games, tallying 19 and 31 points, respectively. His 10 rebounds against Illinois also cemented the Terps’ first-ever double-double in a Big Ten Tournament match.
His 31 points against Michigan were both the most for any Terp in a Big Ten Tournament game and the most by a Maryland freshman in a game since 2015.
