No. 11 Maryland men’s basketball head coach Kevin Willard was named the National Association of Basketball Coaches East District Co-Coach of the Year, it was announced Tuesday. This marks the seventh coach of the year honor in his career.

Maryland finished second in the Big Ten standings, earned a No. 4 seed in the national tournament and spent six weeks in the Associated Press top-25 poll — the most since 2019-20.
Maryland’s 25 wins so far are tied as the sixth-most in program history and the most since 2015-16 (27). The total also ties his career-high in a single season (2015-16 at Seton Hall).
