Maryland baseball utility man Hollis Porter was named Big Ten Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday. Porter is the first Terp to win the honor since Matt Shaw in 2023.
Over the last week, Porter posted a .632 batting average with four doubles, four home runs and 15 RBI. He went 5 for 6 with a career-high six RBIs in the Terps’ 22-11 win over Northwestern Sunday.
His standout week ups his batting average to .319 this season, with 36 RBIs and 12 home runs, which are tied for the 11th-most home runs nationally and the third-most in the Big Ten.

Five Maryland men’s basketball players entered the transfer portal Monday. Ryan Alonardo covered Ja’Kobi Gillespie’s and Tafara Gapare’s decisions, while Colin McNamara wrote about Rodney Rice’s and Jay Young’s moves.

Maryland men’s lacrosse retained its No. 2 spot in multiple national rankings this week with a comfortable win over Penn State Saturday.
Following their victory over Penn State, @TerpsMLax has consolidated the No. 2 spot in the country. The Terps remain a distance away from Cornell at number one overall but have the second-most first-place votes.
