Maryland men’s golf’s Florian Huerlimann was named to the NCAA Division I PING Northeast All-Region team, it was announced Saturday.
Huerlimann is coming off his best season yet. He competed in 10 events as a junior with an average score of 73.8, a sizable improvement from last year’s average of 76.7. He finished at par or better in 10 rounds and ended the season with 80 birdies.
Huerlimann was one of 25 players named to the Northeast team. Penn State, Rutgers and Loyola (Md.) were among the other 16 schools with players who earned the honor.

Former Maryland baseball player Nick Lorusso was named SAL Player of the Week on Wednesday after batting .500 with three home runs last week.
LHP Felipe De La Cruz has been named the SAL Pitcher of the Week and INF Nick Lorusso has been named the SAL Player of the Week.
