This is a Maryland Minute, a short story followed by a roundup of Terps-related news.
With the schedule having been announced earlier in August, Maryland women’s cross country is now on the precipice of its 2024 season.
The Terps will compete this Saturday, Aug. 31 at 9:45 a.m. at Winter Place Park in Salisbury, Md. The race will be a 6k. Last season, the team opened its season at the Baltimore Metro Meet, with five of its runners finishing in the top 10.
Among the top 10 finishers was Katie Altieri, who finished in fourth place and was recently named one of the Big Ten’s Runners to Watch for the fall. The Terps return 12 members from last year’s squad and picked up six newcomers for the 2024 campaign.
