Just a few weeks ago, the Baltimore Ravens and Kansas City Chiefs were enemies on the field in the AFC Championship Game.
This afternoon, following the horrifying shooting at the Chiefs’ Super Bowl parade celebration, the Ravens showed support for the team and Kansas Community by sending out a heartfelt statement via social media.
“Our hearts are with Chiefs Kingdom following the tragic events and shocking violence that occurred during today’s parade in Kansas City,” the statement reads. “On a day meant for uniting people in joy and celebrating love, we send our full support to every citizen of the region and each member of the Chiefs organization . . . affected by this senseless tragedy.”
Information is still coming in on the senseless tragedy, which took place near the end of the parade. As of this writing, one person was dead and more than a dozen injured, according to reports.
“We went out today, like everyone in Kansas City, looking to have a celebration. That celebration was marred by a shooting,” Kansas City mayor Quinton Lucas told reporters. “This is absolutely a tragedy, the likes of which we never would have expected in Kansas City.”
We will keep you posted as more details become available. For now, we’ll continue to pray for the victims and their families as well as the city of Kansas City.
