At long last the Lamar Jackson contract extension saga is over. He’s getting a new deal with the Baltimore Ravens.
According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, Jackson and the Ravens have agreed to terms on a contract extension. FOX’s Jay Glazer followed that up by reporting that it’s a five-year deal that will make him the highest paid player in NFL history by year.
The Ravens have since confirmed the report, announcing that they have agreed in principle to the deal.
We’re still waiting on the final number, but it sounds like it will be well in excess of $50 million per year – which Jalen Hurts received from the Philadelphia Eagles just a few days ago.

Lamar Jackson has been one of the top quarterbacks in the NFL since making his debut in the latter half of the 2018 NFL season. In 2019, his first full year as a starter, he shattered Michael Vick’s record for rushing yards by a quarterback while leading the league in passer rating en route to MVP honors.
A lot has been made in recent years of Jackson relying too much on his legs to the detriment of his passing and the Ravens have struggled in the latter half of the last two seasons due to injuries he suffered.
Nevertheless, the Ravens are ready to make Jackson a permanent part of their organization.
