Top NFL pass rusher Micah Parsons will likely seek a trade this offseason after the comments from the organization. According to ESPN, the Dallas Cowboys feel like they’re in a good place, but they’re still in the early stages of the negotiation talks. The bad news is that, reportedly, he wants to become the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL History, and to no surprise, he did change his mind from what he said earlier this offseason. Parsons told sources that he’s open to a fair contract, but that didn’t last very long as other star edge rushers like Maxx Crosby and Myles Garrett got themselves lucrative deals and Parsons will probably want something above their pay grade.
Originally selected in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft, the former Penn State product became probably the best pass rusher since the Demarcus Ware days and brings a lot of nostalgia to Dallas. The Cowboys can’t afford to lose Parsons this offseason, but it should not be surprising if he winds up requesting a trade if Dallas doesn’t speed up the process of trade talks. Dallas has always been reluctant to give their talent a fair deal until the very last minute to avoid any offseason practice distractions.
The organization was close to trading wide receiver CeeDee Lamb last offseason, as it was very possible considering the stalling negotiation talks. This could be the same case for the Cowboys again as they’re in a crossroads even though they claim they “feel good” about the process. Parsons may request a trade either way and these two AFC teams will likely be the frontrunners.
BREAKING: Top NFL Pass Rusher Micah Parsons Will Likely Seek Trade After Latest Comments – Ravens, Chargers Top Fits
The New Jadeveon Clowney?
The Baltimore Ravens are about one step closer to becoming Super Bowl Champions. Despite losing to Buffalo in the divisional round, the Ravens could use some insurance on their defense, as losing Jadeveon Clowney was a crucial part of their pass rush. The team’s offense will continue to be competitive as long as two-time MVP quarterback Lamar Jackson is their signal-caller, but the defense hasn’t been able to replicate the same energy as they underwent several changes last offseason. Odafe Oweh is entering his contract year, and Trenton Simpson hasn’t been producing much on the field.
The Ravens might as well get the top pass rusher in the league. They may be tight in budget, but having an explosive offense can’t be put to waste. Parsons would be the perfect spokesperson for this locker room and probably on the same level as Ray Lewis.
New Life in LA
The same can be said about the Los Angeles Chargers. The team had one of the worst run defenses as Joey Bosa has been battling injuries, and Khalil Mack is carrying the defense on his back. However, the Chargers’ defense will look dramatically different next season, as they lost a gem in Poona Ford.
Teair Tart might be returning, but no one should expect him to play up to the same standard, as he’s only explosive when he has an explosive teammate. Meanwhile, the Chargers have the cap space to facilitate a Parsons trade. Jim Harbaugh would love him apart in his defense, and it could change the landscape for Los Angeles.
