Derrick Henry wants everyone to know that the Baltimore Ravens were his top choice in free agency.
Despite him confirming that the Dallas Cowboys never reached out when free agency opened, they still weren’t his first choice.
“For the record, Baltimore was always my No. 1 option,” Henry said, (first transcribed by NFL.com). “That’s always where I wanted to go. And like I said, I know the trade talks, it was almost going to happen, but I didn’t know once free agency started if they still felt the same until I talked to my agent to see what was really going on.”
Henry signed a two-year $16 million contract with the Ravens when free agency opened and will be their starting running back. Even though he’s a bit older, he’s still really scary and is one of the best running backs in the league.
He finished the 2023 season with 280 carries for 1,167 yards and 12 touchdowns. It was his second straight 1,000-yard season and fifth overall.
He and quarterback Lamar Jackson are going to be a deadly duo on the ground once the 2024 season starts.
The Ravens are coming off a loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship Game.
