Edge Disruptor Might Seek a Trade in New Rumors Swirling – Ravens, Chargers Possible Fits

myles garrett trade rumors

Five-time Pro Bowler defender Myles Garrett might seek a trade in new rumors that are swirling around the league. According to new reports, the Cleveland Browns may grant Garrett’s wishes after putting an ultimatum of wanting to win, rather than rebuilding. It shouldn’t be surprising if this offseason, Garrett decides to request considering the landscape in Cleveland not having a winning culture. When asked if he would play elsewhere, he was transparent about his answer so this could indicate that it is imminent he will want to join a contender.

Garrett isn’t wasting time, the 28-year-old is a first-round selection out of the 2017 NFL Draft and he isn’t getting any younger. He is arguably entering his prime years after recording almost 100 sacks, 17 pass deflections and 343 total tackles. The Brown’s defense would take a huge blow but the former Defensive Player of the Year has desires to play in a playoff game as he’s hoping the team is aggressive this offseason with adding moves to improve the roster. However, chances are, the Browns don’t have the winning blueprint with a legitimate path to have a winning record for the next several years.

It shouldn’t surprise anyone if Garrett winds up on a new team in 2025. Plenty of contenders will want to give him an opportunity and swoop him in for a long-term extension. The Ravens, Chargers have a high chance with a winning team that will likely participate for the next decade.

Myles Garrett Trade Rumors: He May Seek to Join a Legitimate Contender

Veteran Experience Stability

It’s easy to see why the Baltimore Ravens could bring in Myles Garrett after losing several veterans this past offseason. While the team has a lot of firepower on the offense, the defense has yet to replicate what they’re trying to build. Even though they brought in Yannick Nagkoue, he was more in a temporary role, hoping to give Odafe Oweh and David Ojabo on one end of the defensive front. The Ravens could easily attempt to win the upcoming postseason with shootouts, but they may have to rely on the defense a little more when going up against quarterbacks like Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes.

However, Baltimore is in the thick of the playoff race and heading towards being a wild card team next month. The team losing Jadeveon Clowney and Geno Stone hurt the roster’s chances to build upon what they had last season. They may want to acquire a veteran like Garrett who still has a lot of upside and if he can join a defense like the Ravens, he may become one of the most explosive anyone has seen in this league. Garrett continues to carry the Browns to make plays and it’s only a matter of time what he could do when teaming with guys like Kyle Van Noy and Roquan Smith.

Jim Harbaugh’s Trenches

Nobody loves winning football games in the trenches than Jim Harbaugh and someone with philosophy may bring out the best in Garrett. The Los Angeles Chargers have a decent offense to work with but they lack star power enough to make a deep postseason run. While Justin Herbert loves to throw the football in the pocket to his targets, Harbaugh should put him in the best position to consistently be on the field. Joey Bosa and Khalil Mack will become free agents next offseason so someone like Garrett could be an easy replacement for at least one player potentially leaving.

A fresh start for Garrett under Harbaugh’s old-school style defense might bring out something in Los Angeles that could be vibrantly special. The Chargers have one of the best secondaries but lack tackles and getting after the quarterback. However, potentially acquiring Garrett may give the defense the boost they’re looking for.
