There’s only one game left in the NFL season. Before you know it, it will be March and free agency will be underway.
ESPN’s Matt Bowen published an early free agency primer on Tuesday, ranking the top 50 players who could be available in several weeks.
At the top of the list was Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson. Injuries ruined the end of Jackson’s 2022 campaign, but Bowen still rates him as “the league’s most electric player, with an upper-tier skill set that creates major issues for opposing defenses” and thinks the 26-year-old can still improve.
“With the positional value to demand a multiyear contract, Jackson is clearly the top player on the board,” Bowen wrote. “The Ravens have said they want to bring him back, and they could use the franchise tag next month.”
Jackson and the Ravens have been unable to come to an agreement on a long-term deal, and their relationship has seemingly been a little contentious in recent months.
However, talent always speaks loudest, and Jackson has plenty of it. It would make sense for Baltimore to look to retain him, even if the price tag is high.
