The Ravens made an interesting selection in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft, taking Clemons linebacker Trenton Simpson.
Some analysts had Simpson ranked as the No. 2 inside linebacker in this year’s class. He had 72 tackles, 2.5 sacks and two forced fumbles for Clemson in 2022.
Shortly after the Ravens drafted Simpson, the NFL world started speculating about Patrick Queen’s future in Baltimore.
With Simpson on board and Roquan Smith locked up for the foreseeable future, the Ravens could potentially entertain trade calls for Queen.

“OK. The #Ravens just drafted Trenton Simpson. They recently signed Roquan Smith to a 5-year, $100M extension. #Raiders, pick up the phone and call Baltimore to inquire about Patrick Queen, PLEASE,” Moe Moton said.

“The #Ravens traded for Roquan Smith and then gave him a $100 million deal last season. Now drafted Trenton Simpson. Fair to wonder if Baltimore will pick up the 5h-year option on the contract of 2020 1st round pick LB Patrick Queen. He’s also a possible trade candidate,” Dov Kleiman tweeted.

Queen had 117 total tackles, six pass breakups, five sacks and two fumble recoveries for the Ravens last season.
The Ravens have an important decision to make regarding Queen’s fifth-year option.
