Here’s a roundup of high school varsity action on Tuesday, April 1.
Boys lacrosse
Archbishop Spalding 10, Loyola Blakefield 4: The visiting Cavaliers (8-1, 1-1 Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association A Conference) bounced back from Friday’s one-goal loss to Boys’ Latin. Spalding was led by Grady Swidersky (3 goals), Joseph Matassa (3 goals), Brady Mollot (1 goal, 3 assists) and Dylan Newell (2 goals, 1 assist). The Dons (6-3, 1-1) were held to a goal per quarter. Loyola got a goal each from Luca Ball, Matt Joerres, Cooper Pasko and Johnny Sippel.
McDonogh 14, Severn 6: Virginia-bound Brendan Millon had five goals and two assists and Syracuse-bound Bogue Hahn had three goals and an assist to lead the host Eagles (5-3, 2-0 MIAA A Conference) over the Admirals (3-4, 1-1). The win was the fourth straight. McDonogh led 7-1 in the first half.
Baseball
Dulaney 11, Dundalk 1: The Lions put up eight runs in the bottom of the first and cruised to the win. Connor Dow tripled and drove in a run, and was one of four pitchers who combined on a no-hitter. He struck out five in two innings. Will Chantelau had a hit and two RBIs in the win.
Softball
Dundalk 23, Lansdowne 6: Justice Smith went 3-for-3 with four RBIs to lead the Owls’ offensive explosion. Makayla Woods had two hits, including a home run, and also drove in four. Carlie Locklear had three RBIs and Kenisha Gelpi and Hayden Wiatrowski had two each.
Tennis
Fallston 8, Aberdeen 3: While the Eagles swept boys singles, the Cougars won everything else. Juliana Kovalets, Gwen Karantonis and Lexi Rapo were girls singles winners. Doubles wins came from teams of Zach Boczar and Luca Cangelosi, Liam Delaney and Charlie Schillaci, Kasey Resh and Ashley Tran, Maddie Kelly and Elena Morissette, and Alex Kegan and Avery Mendoza.
