The New York Jets have long been admonished for not adequately addressing their offensive line but finally appear to have settled their offensive tackle position ahead of the 2024 season.
On Wednesday, ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter reported that the Jets are acquiring right tackle Morgan Moses from the Baltimore Ravens in a trade. The Jets are sending a fourth- and sixth-round pick in the 2024 Draft to Baltimore in exchange for Moses and a fourth-round pick.
The move is actually a reunion, as Moses played for the Jets during the 2021 season. Moses played in all 17 games for the Jets that season but was not re-signed afterwards.
The Ravens signed Moses to a three-year, $15 million contract in 2022 and he started 31 games over his first two seasons in Baltimore.
Moses has proven to be a very solid player for the Ravens and was pretty good when he played for the Jets as well a few years back. He should solidify the right tackle position for the Jets as they try to figure out who will be their left tackle for the upcoming season.
The Jets still need to figure out what they’re doing at left tackle this coming season though. Keeping Aaron Rodgers upright (assuming he isn’t on the campaign trail with RFK Jr.) is their top priority for next season.
As for the Ravens, offloading him to the Jets will clear some extra cap space and the team has more than enough good prospects to replace him along their offensive line.
