One of the Baltimore Ravens’ top players has not been present at OTAs this week.
Star quarterback Lamar Jackson has been skipping those voluntary practices for reasons he only knows. The team hasn’t said much outside of saying that they can’t comment on it.
“It’s this time of year; it’s a voluntary time,” Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said, via ESPN’s Jamison Hensley. “It’s really not something that we comment on. We can’t, and that’s just the time of year it is. So I can’t speak for anybody that’s not here.”
Whatever Jackson’s reasoning is, it’s cost him close to $1 million in workout bonuses. Per ProFootballTalk’s Mike Florio, Jackson has $750,000 of workout bonuses this offseason but can’t get that money since he’s already missed too many practices.
In the grand scheme of things, it probably doesn’t mean too much to Jackson since he’s already one of the highest-paid quarterbacks in the league.
Even if he doesn’t show up to OTAs, he’ll still be present for mandatory minicamp and training camp later this year.
Jackson had another incredible season in 2023, finishing with 3,678 passing yards, 24 touchdowns, and only seven interceptions.
