Giants defensive coordinator Don “Wink” Martindale had nothing but praise for Matthew Stafford ahead of this Sunday’s matchup against the Rams.
For starters, Martindale told reporters that Stafford is playing at a “Hall of Fame level.” He’s not wrong about that. Over the past five games, Stafford has thrown 14 touchdowns and just one interception.
Martindale then said Stafford should be one of the top two candidates for MVP this season. The other candidate is none other than Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson.
No one has really mentioned Stafford in the MVP conversation until now. Jackson, on the other hand, is the favorite to win the award.

Stafford and Jackson went head-to-head on Dec. 10 in one of the best games of the year.
Although the Rams lost in overtime, Stafford threw for 294 yards and three touchdowns. Jackson was just as productive, racking up 316 passing yards, 70 rushing yards and three touchdowns.
