Much like Brock Purdy, former NFL quarterback Mark Sanchez also made it Conference Championship Weekend in his first two seasons. But does he believe that Purdy can take that step he never made and lead his team to a Super Bowl?
Appearing on the Dan Patrick Show, the former quarterback-turned-analyst gave his predictions for this weekend’s games. But if you’re looking for him to make a bold prediction, he’s not quite that brave.
Sanchez went all chalk and decided to pick the San Francisco 49ers and the Baltimore Ravens to beat the Detroit Lions and Kansas City Chiefs respectively. He said that while he was loathe to pick against Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, he has to go with the Ravens.
“You never want to bet against Mahomes, and I might regret it, but if I gotta pick I’m going San Fran. vs. Baltimore,” Sanchez said.

The Ravens are favored by 3.5 points against the Chiefs while the 49ers are favored by a full seven points against Detroit.
Baltimore are hoping to get to their first Super Bowl since 2012, while the Chiefs are hoping to defend their own Super Bowl title.
Meanwhile, the Lions are vying for their first NFC title in the Super Bowl era and their first NFL title since 1957. The 49ers made the Super Bowl in 2019 and 2012, but lost both of them and have not won a title since 1994 with Steve Young.
Will Mark Sanchez be proven right?
