The wife of Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator Todd Monken is just like every other football fan out there.
She’s wondering why Monken doesn’t just “call the plays that work.” No, really.
In a Thursday afternoon meeting with reporters Monken detailed his wife’s play-calling suggestions. She thinks he should just call the plays that are successful for the Ravens offense.
“I don’t know why you don’t just call the plays that work,” she allegedly said.

It’s a fair criticism of his work.
However, Monken has done a pretty good job in his first season as offensive coordinator for the Ravens. During the 2023 regular season, Baltimore was the No. 4 scoring offense and No. 6 offense in total yards.
Baltimore is in the AFC title game after dropping 34 points against the Houston Texans in a divisional round blowout and Lamar Jackson will likely win his second NFL MVP award thanks to Monken’s offense.
He seems to be calling the plays that work – for now. We’ll have to wait and see how his offense performs against a stout Kansas City Chiefs defense in the AFC Championship Game this weekend.
