The Ravens saw heightened production from numerous players in 2024. Who rose to the occasion most?
The Baltimore Ravens’ suffered bumps in the road and obstacles throughout their 2024 regular season. But throughout the course of the year, they found players to overcome those difficult stretches and become impact players. There were several who went from being potential answers to certified starters and contributors. Among them were:
- Safety Ar’Darius Washington
- Rookie Right Tackle Roger Rosengarten
- Wide Receiver Rashod Bateman
- Running back Justice Hill
Today’s Question of the Day:
Which Ravens Player Exceeded Expectations the Most in 2024?
My Answer: It’s a runaway case here for Washington.
Though the production and gaudy numbers from the likes of Bateman and Hill are stunning, and the blocking, film and stats from Rosengarten are exciting for the future, no player came out and exceeded expectations more than Washington.
Bateman was a first-round pick and lived up to his billing in 2024. A guy I’ve consistently backed and believed in, he didn’t exceed expectations. He became the player he is and was expected to become. Similarly, the same can be said for Rosengarten. When the Ravens drafted him in the second round, he was a player many believed could become a starting tackle for the team from the get-go. And while his play was better than advertised in Year 1, exceeding the expectations, none come close to Washington.
The fourth-year pro had played just eight games over three seasons due to injury. But when he was called on after mounting struggles in the secondary, the undrafted rookie turned into a bonafide starting safety, taking the place of prized 2022 free agent acquisition Marcus Williams, who was healthy scratched over the final five games and the postseason.
In 2024, Washington finished with eight passes defensed, two interceptions, a forced fumble (near the goal line against the AFC North rival Pittsburgh Steelers) and 64 tackles. This was from a player buried down the depth chart.
