Among the Baltimore Ravens’ roster cuts on Tuesday was veteran running back Melvin Gordon.
It’s possible that Gordon could return to Baltimore’s practice squad, but for now, he does not have a home.
According to ESPN’s Jamison Hensley, Gordon was, at best, the No. 4 running back on the Ravens’ depth chart, which made him expendable.
Melvin Gordon, who was cut by the Ravens, was behind J.K. Dobbins, Gus Edwards and Justice Hill on the depth chart. Baltimore also likes undrafted rookie Keaton Mitchell. https://t.co/XxhqYanYgF

Gordon was waived by the Denver Broncos in November 2022 after his fifth fumble of the season cost them dearly in a game against the Las Vegas Raiders.
After that, the Chiefs signed Gordon to their practice squad, and he was able to earn a Super Bowl ring despite never appearing a game for Kansas City. Baltimore signed the 30-year-old veteran in late July, but he failed to crack the team’s initial 53-man roster.
A first-round pick of the then-San Diego Chargers out of Wisconsin in 2015, Gordon made two Pro Bowls in his five seasons with the Bolts, rushing for 4,240 yards and 36 touchdowns on 1,059 carries.
In his two-plus seasons with the Broncos, Gordon totaled 2,222 rushing yards on 508 attempts with 19 touchdowns on the ground. He has also logged 309 career receptions for 2,467 yards and 11 scores.
