Baltimore Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta had a great response to a question about a Deebo Samuel trade rumor.
Jason La Canfora reported on Wednesday that the Ravens had recently called the San Francisco 49ers to ask about wide receiver Deebo Samuel and that they had said no.
DeCosta was asked about that rumor during a Thursday press conference and had a great retort.
“I read ‘The Lorax’ last week at a local elementary school. I would probably put that report that is similar to that,” DeCosta said.
In other words, DeCosta is saying that the rumor isn’t true.
Even if the Ravens did call about Samuel, there’s no way the 49ers would be looking to trade him. He’s one of their best players and a major reason why they made the Super Bowl this past season.
He finished the season with 60 receptions for 892 yards and seven touchdowns. He also compiled 37 rushes for 225 yards and five touchdowns on the ground.
Samuel has been one of the best playmakers in the league for the last few seasons and that’s only going to continue in 2024 and beyond.
