Qadry Ismail was one of the Baltimore Ravens’ top offensive weapons during his three-year stint with the franchise from 1999-2001.
Now, Ismail’s son is getting his opportunity with the franchise. After trying out with the Ravens during rookie minicamp, wide receiver Qadir Ismail has signed to Baltimore’s 90-man roster.
The younger Ismail, who stands 6-foot-6, began his college career at Villanova as a quarterback in 2018. He appeared in three games with one start, completing 11-of-29 passes for 180 yards, one touchdown and one interception.
After transitioning to wide receiver, Ismail caught 11 passes for 181 yards in nine games in 2021. He then transferred to Samford, where he played his final two years of college football.
At Samford, Ismail registered 16 receptions for 156 yards. His top performance came in the 2023 season opener against Shorter, when he caught three passes for 60 yards.
The Bel Air (Md.) John Carroll School product is now the 11th wide receiver on the Ravens’ 90-man roster.
Qadry Ismail, meanwhile, played 10 seasons in the NFL from 1993-2002 after an outstanding college career at Syracuse. During his three seasons with the Ravens, Ismail recorded two 1,000-yard campaigns and helped the team win Super Bowl XXXV in 2000.
For his NFL career, the elder Ismail caught 353 passes for 5,137 yards and 33 touchdowns.
