Like thousands of people across the country, Stephen A. Smith saw what Lamar Jackson was tweeting while the Ravens were wheeling and dealing. This morning, he had a message for the MVP quarterback.
During a discussion about whether Jackson or Aaron Rodgers should be more upset with the events of the draft, Smith went off on Jackson. He argued that Jackson shouldn’t be upset with the Ravens for making the move because he hasn’t committed to the Ravens by signing a contract extension.
“Guess what? When you are not locked in, when your situation is not rock solid… it kind of puts you in the position of ‘What you’re feeling may not matter.’ At the end of the day we need to make sure you’re taken care of first. And since you haven’t made that a priority, we don’t care about your ‘WTF’ tweets,” Smith said.
The “WTF” tweet is in reference to the tweet Jackson sent out following the team trading star wide receiver Marquise “Hollywood” Brown to the Arizona Cardinals. Jackson was not amused by the move even though the Ravens ultimately got Tyler Linderbaum via the trade.

The relationship between the Baltimore Ravens and Lamar Jackson is a tricky one to navigate. Baltimore have reportedly offered Jackson a new contract, but Jackson has no agent and insists on negotiating things himself.
That process has some unnecessary complications that might be creating tension between the two sides.
By most accounts, the relationship between the two is fine other than that sticking point.
But Jackson is heading into the final year of his deal. At some point the Ravens and Jackson need to agree to a contract or go their separate ways.
