The Davante Adams trade has not gone according to plan for the Jets, and some analysts across the league believe New York could move him after just two games. Following a 2-4 start, Aaron Rodgers and company acquired the former Green Bay Packer in exchange for a third-round pick that could become a second-round selection if certain conditions are met. At the time, this move was supposed to give the Jets the added firepower needed to close the gap in a competitive AFC.
Instead, the Jets are worse than ever and could sell at the trade deadline. Aaron Rodgers lost his fastball, as the once-great quarterback doesn’t look like his old self. At 2-6, New York’s odds of making the playoffs are slim to none, so why wouldn’t they trade Davante Adams and minimize their loss on the 31-year-old wide receiver? Looking across the league, the Kansas City Chiefs, Baltimore Ravens, and Buffalo Bills make the most sense as potential destinations.
If I’m the Chiefs or Bills I’m calling the Jets about Davante Adams

Crashing Jets Could Trade Davante Adams After Just Two Games
The Baltimore Ravens entered Week 8 as the hottest team in the league. However, led by former first-overall pick Jameis Winston, the lowly Cleveland Browns proved that Baltimore’s roster still has room for improvement. While the questionable pass rush and secondary were the biggest issues, this team could still use more help at wide receiver. 2023 first-round pick Zay Flowers had another strong game, but Rashod Bateman could not build on his impressive Week 7. Jackson needs more help, and Davante Adams could be the perfect trade target.
Lamar Jackson is playing like an MVP, but the quarterback can only do so much on his own. While Derrick Henry gives Baltimore a nearly unstoppable ground game, Baltimore must find players capable of supporting Jackson in a shootout. Jameis Winston and company went blow-for-blow with the Ravens offense, and Baltimore came out on the losing side of that battle. Perhaps Davante Adams would’ve been enough to come away with the win, and a trade could ensure the Ravens won’t suffer the same fate in a season-defining postseason matchup.
More Receiver Help
The Kansas City Chiefs and Buffalo Bills already traded for DeAndre Hopkins and Amari Cooper, respectively, but why should that stop them from pulling off a Davante Adams trade? Kansas City remains undefeated, but the offense still needs some help. Travis Kelce came through with a huge performance in the team’s 27-20 win, but Hopkins didn’t do much of anything. His role should increase as the season progresses, but Adams could still help. First-round pick Xavier Worthy is one of the least efficient receivers in the league, so perhaps Adams should replace him in 2024 while the rookie adjusts to the NFL game.
Second-round pick Keon Coleman is the real deal, Khalil Shakir is a consistent threat in the slot, and Amari Cooper has played well during his short stint in Buffalo. This offense should remain one of the league’s elite units, but who wouldn’t want to trade for someone like Davante Adams? After years upon years of near-misses in the postseason, the Bills have a chance to go on a deep playoff run. The AFC is loaded with talent, and Sean McDermott’s club will need as much as possible to finally hoist a Lombardi trophy.
