The Washington Commanders head into free agency with a whopping 31 free agents, including 28 unrestricted free agents. You’ll hear a lot about how much cap space Washington has heading into free agency — around $82 million — but the Commanders have only 46 players currently under contract for 2025.
So, while Washington has enough cap space to make some significant moves, it must also re-sign some of its own free agents or at least sign some comparable players to fill out the roster while it searches for ways to improve.
The good news for the Commanders is most of their free agents are depth players and shouldn’t be too difficult to retain. However, Washington does have some essential players it must keep, too. We look at 12 Commanders’ free agents who they should re-sign before free agency begins in just over two weeks.
