Washington Commanders impending free agent Noah Brown hopes to return next season. Many reports list Brown as a free agent after spending the last year with the team as a dependable target under rookie Jayden Daniels’ phenomenal 2024 campaign. Originally selected in the seventh round of the 2017 NFL Draft, the former Ohio State product made it clear he wants to return to build more in Washington which is no surprise considering the season he had. However, it all came to an end early for the wide receiver since suffering a season-ending injury which didn’t stop the Commanders from progressing any further in the postseason.
The Commanders will evaluate his status but since they were able to perform well without him, they could seek to find superstar wide receivers to pair with Terry McLaurin. Many analysts didn’t believe Daniels would make it this far with the weapons he had but guys like Zach Ertz stepped in when the Commanders needed him. However, Noah Brown did famously catch the game-winning Hail Mary pass from Daniels to defeat the Bears so they could bring him back on a lucrative one-year deal to stay with them. Realistically, the Commanders would want to continue building and that may not include Brown in this situation since plenty of other receiver free agents like Amari Cooper will become available.
Although, they could make a trade for a guy like Deebo Samuel or Cooper Kupp. This is likely the route they will take to improve the chances for a potential Super Bowl run next season. As for Brown, the ceiling is still high so he could carve out a role with the Panthers, Saints in the Fall.

A New Promise
The Carolina Panthers are building a roster with promise as well for themselves. Quarterback Bryce Young is finally thriving in this offense after being placed on the bench in favor of veteran Andy Dalton. Head Coach Dave Canales has faith in Young and will look to build a legitimate passing attack so he can excel in the pocket to throw to the next available target. Xavier Legette and Jalen Coker are two promising wideouts who could turn into superstars as long as the organization gives them the right reps.
Last season, both receivers showed they could be long-term weapons for Young and if the Panthers play their cards right, it may pay off in the end. Noah Brown isn’t going to efficiently boost the passing game on day one but he is a dependable option. It’s a new set of hands that Young may establish a new chemistry with.
Rebuilding the Saints
As for the Saints, the team has too many issues with their financial situation so it’s likely they will have to settle for the bare minimum. General Manager Mickey Loomis figured out a way every offseason to get a bargain out of wide receiver and did so by signing Marquez Valdes-Scantling during the 2024 season. However, the receiver department looks bleak with Chris Olave’s future up in the air. He’s 100% for next season but one can wonder if he’s willing to stay with the Saints.
Meanwhile, Rashid Shaheed will come back to get more reps in a probable No. 2 spot. With that, the Saints should look for a new free-agent wide receiver and they may have to settle for Brown. The good news is that he isn’t the worst option but he has a fresh opportunity to excel under whoever will become the next head coach of this organization.
